Thomas Tew (1649 - 1695), also known as the Rhode Island Pirate, was an English privateer who later turned to piracy in the 17th century. He embarked on two significant pirate voyages, meeting a tragic end on the second. Notably, he pioneered the route that became known as the Pirate Round.
Rhode Island, a haven for pirates in the 17th and 18th centuries, benefited from the wealth they brought in after raiding shipping. However, the colony eventually turned against piracy.
This exceptional coin represents the fourth installment in the Jolly Roger series, showcasing infamous pirate flags. Encased in a protective acrylic capsule, this limited edition boasts a global mintage of merely 5,000 coins, ensuring its exclusivity.
