The Oppo BDP-95 plays virtually all optical disc formats, including standard Redbook CDs, high-resolution SACDs (Super Audio CDs), and DVD-Audio. Unlike the 105 and the 205, “the Swiss army knives of digital audio”, there is no DAC input and no built in headphone amplifier, and for many users it is the preferred standalone stereo disc player.
The 95 features a dedicated "Pure Audio" mode, which completely shuts off all video processing, display circuits, and HDMI signals. This prevents electromagnetic video noise from affecting the sensitive analog audio pathways. For left and right channels, it "stacks" four individual internal DAC chips together (total of 8, 4 per channel), which drastically lowers the noise floor and enhances dynamic range.
The standalone Audiocom Signature upgrade for the Oppo BDP-95 costs roughly £1,500 on top of the player price. This flagship modification tier from Audiocom completely overhauls the player's power, clocking, and isolation systems to maximise the performance of the player.
