My opinion
on the Ayer's Rocker II is that once you understand how it works, it's very
easy to adjust the intonation and string height — unlike other types of
bridges. The tricky part is getting used to or figuring out its adjustment
system, which I found very strange at first.
The guitar
is heavy — it weighs 4 kg. The neck is thick, but it has a very striking shape,
or at least I really like it. The white color matches my cat, so I'm seriously
considering not selling it...
The guitar
is about 40 years old, so it has various cosmetic blemishes, but the
electronics work fine, and I found no issues with the neck. It will probably
need a truss rod adjustment because the truss rod is maxed out and the neck is
almost straight. However, it currently has .009 gauge strings, so if you put on
a heavier gauge, the neck will likely bow slightly. The neck pickup seems to be
the original (PU-12), but the bridge pickup has been replaced with a CDJ
(Seymour Duncan). The guitar is missing the nut locks, the tremolo arm, and the
plastic back plate.
Maintenance
already done:
· General cleaning.
· The
fretboard has been hydrated with lemon oil.
· New
strings .009 - .042
· Confirmation
of sound. All electronics work correctly.
· Truss
rod adjustment. Neck is almost straight.
· Intonation
improved the best I could.
Known
details or damages:
· There
are many cracks on the body and some stains, especially in the lower and the
upper parts of the instrument.
· The
neck socket has cosmetic damages on the sides.
· The
nut locks are missing, their size is special, much smaller than the typical nut
locks.

Information about the original pickups,
translated from the Japanese to the English:
Newly developed pickups that bring out 100% of the F.V.X.'s
characteristics.
The essence of technology from the Tokai Project Team. A special pickup
that combines adjustable pole pieces and straight-type bobbins. The magnet is a
high-performance ferrite with strong coercive force and low susceptibility to
demagnetization. The wire used is high‑grade copper (φ0.05%), offering the lowest
resistance.
Wound onto an ABS resin bobbin using the Tokai original wiring machine
(WM-ISP) — carefully wound at low speed, up to 8,000 turns (just like hand - winding).
The sound is bright, with a fast attack, yet warm and full-bodied. A
state ‑ of ‑ the ‑ art pickup designed for modern rock use.
The adjustable pole - piece magnets can be fine - tuned to suit your playing style. The straight - type permanent magnet prevents tone
loss during string bending and supports string vibration perfectly.
Information about the Ayer's Rocker II,
translated from Japanese to English:
- Instant zero-tension arm-down with lightning-fast response. Tuning
stability is also maximized, with minimal pitch deviation.
- Octave and string height adjustments can be made even while the guitar
is tuned. Strings can be used without cutting the ball end — ready to install.
- The PRITZ-LOCK system locks the entire bridge unit, eliminating any
forward/backward or lateral play or rattling.
- Fine-tuning knobs allow pitch adjustments during performance. Proper
torque completely prevents accidental tuning drift from contact with the unit.
- The Super Knife-Edge Stud Bolt system dramatically improves arm
response precision (smooth, natural arm movement). The stud bolts also allow
overall height adjustment of the Ayers Rock-II.
- Easy-mount arm system for quick attachment and removal. Arm torque is
adjustable. Includes a nylon spacer to protect the arm from scratches and
ensure smooth rotation.
- Patented mechanism — design and utility model patents pending.
Sale
terms:
I'm not a store
nor a business but a collector of Japanese guitars, especially if they are
from the 80's. Please note that this is, as almost all the guitars I own and
sell, second hand instruments. The guitar is sold as-is . If you live in
Sofia you are welcome to check and test the instrument before buying, but I
speak only English or Spanish. You can also ask for more pictures, videos or
more detailed information.
No refunds,
no returns and no barters or trades.
