Pictorial and Practical English. Books 1
The
four books in this series provide a graded and comprehensive secondary
school course in English language. They cover all parts of speech and
their use, as well as spelling and the techniques required for such
tasks as form-filling and job applications. Lively prose pieces of
general interest act as the bases for exercises in comprehension and
vocabulary study, and for further reading suggestions. Each chapter
deals with a point of English usage, which can then be practised in
creative writing. A subject for this is given at the end of the chapter.
The many photographs and line drawings provide additional imaginative
stimulation. It is intended that, above all, the pupils should enjoy
acquiring familiarity with, and fluency in, written English.
