This book lays no claim to being a complete and comprehensive account of the history of The Soviet Union. It merely describes in general outline How one of the world's largest states, the USSR, was formed. The country went through the same basic stages of development as most other countries, passing from one socio-economic formation to the next. The book is divided into 3 sections: Feudalism, Capitalism, and Socialism. The socialist period is treated rather in more detail, for the pace of the historical process increases in this period and developments grow in importance, exerting a greater impact on the destinies of the world.
