I found a very similar guitar in the 1984-1985 catalog — it seems to be some type of FVD-70 (due to the 'Super Vibrato Unit' shown in the catalog). The original vibrato unit was likely replaced with a Kahler-style imitation, though I can't be certain as this is a second-hand item around 40 years old.
The neck feels comfortable, and there are no issues with the electronics. In my opinion, this guitar has great stage presence and is in good shape for its age.
Local pickup in Sofia is preferred, but I’m also open to discussing shipping within Bulgaria.
All instruments in my collection are second-hand; some are around 40 years old. If you are hesitant about purchasing or concerned about their condition, please note that these are vintage items and not in perfect, store-ready shape. I am not a store but an individual collector, and I do my best to maintain them as well as possible.
No trades or returns. The instrument is sold as-is.
A little background of Tokai.
Tokai Gakki Co., Ltd. was founded in 1947 and has produced some wonderful replicas of Gibson and Fender, including the “Love Rock Model” and “Les Paul Reborn” series (copies of the Gibson Les Paul), the “Springy Sound” series (copies of the Fender Stratocaster) and the “Breezy Sound” series (copies of the Fender Telecaster). From 1978 to 1980, Tokai sold replicas of Les Paul under the name “Les Paul Reborn”. It was at this time that everyone started hearing about the “Lawsuit Guitars”. The replicas made by Tokai were, at the time, of incredible quality. The different woods used were of higher quality than those used by Gibson. Indeed, Tokai had researched and analyzed the original Gibson to be able to make guitars of superior quality.
Fender’s replicas began being produced in 1977. Stratocaster’s replicas are from the “Springy Sound” series. The Telecaster replicas of the “Breezy Sound” series started in 1980.
Since Tokai already had its own factory, it made guitars for many famous brands like Fernandes and Fender Japan.
